He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Richard Childress and Sue Collins Childress; his wife Crystal Nicks Childress; his sons, John "Richie" Childress (Stephanie) and Timothy Childress (Kendall); his grandchildren, Hadley, Eleanor and Adalynn; and his sisters, Becky Childress (Jimmy) and Karen Childress Patel (Neil).
