She was predeceased by: her parents, Sye Monsie and Betty Key Southard; her husband J. B. Mayes; and her siblings, S. M. Southard, Wilber Southard, Clarence Southard, Ruth Gentry, Mary Osborne, Madge Wood and Bertie Blevins.
She is survived by: her sons, Gary White (Adale) of Elkin, Terry White (Susan) of State Road and Jeffery White (Krista) of Elkin; her stepchildren, Norma Whitaker (J. E.) and Rev James Mayes (Sharon) of Danville, VA; her grandchildren, David White (Michelle), Josh White (Shannon), Jason White (Nicole) and Elizabeth White Duggins (Scott); and her great grandchildren, Videl White, Gohan White, Willow White, Ashlyn White, Owen White, Caleb White, Carson White, Adalyn White, Silas Duggins and Connor Duggins. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
