It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Pearl Hayden Cox of Elkin, North Carolina, who passed away on February 13, 2024, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Roby Hayden and Vergie Harris Hayden; her husband John Brady Cox; and her siblings, Minnie Griffey, Mabel Surber, Mandy Shelton, Margaret Olinger, Molly Terry, Rosie Griffey, Mary Sue Harris, Martha Lou Shelton and Marvin Hayden.
She is survived by: her children, Barry Cox (Dee) of Elkin, Patty Smith (David) of Elkin and Chrissy Rhodes (Andy) of Elkin; her siblings, Thomas Hayden of Chilhowie, VA, Charles Hayden (Nancy) of Marion, VA, Roby Hayden (Doris) of Saltville, VA and Darcus Harris (Graham) of Saltville, VA; her grandchildren, John Cox (Chelsea), Amanda Bottoms (Ben), Matthew Cox (Lindsey), Stephen Smith, Aaron Smith (Faith), Katelyn Harris and Chase Harris; and her great grandchildren, Abel Cox, Abby Cox, Eli Cox, Emma Cox, Christian Bottoms, Corbin Bottoms, Caroline Bottoms, Brady Cox and Sophia Harris.
