He was predeceased by: his parents, John Franklin Barnes and Effie Casey Barnes; and his wife Dorothy Mae Harris Barnes. He is survived by: his children, Eveline Gravely (James) of Mt. Airy and John Barnes (Martha) of Elkin. He is also survived by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
