He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter "Pnut" Blackburn and Madelon Newman Blackburn; his former wife Judy McCoin Blackburn; and his brothers, Joe Blackburn, Kenneth Blackburn and Jerry Blackburn.
He is survived by: his wife Rinda Law Blackburn; his children, Stacey Pierce (Brent) and John Mitchell Blackburn; his stepchildren, Malissa Hundley (Wayland) and Bryant Reeser (Wendy); his grandsons, Sean Blackburn, Evan Blackburn and Logan Blackburn; his stepgranddaughter Kinsley Reeser; and his sisters-in-law, Brenda Blackburn, Octavia Blackburn and Carol Blackburn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
