He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Byrd and Ola Adams Byrd; his wife Brenda Carter; and his sisters, Betty Byrd Staley, Carolyn Byrd and Mary Byrd Kanupp.
He is survived by: his daughter Kimberly Byrd Dockery (Chuck) of Statesville; his granddaughter Meredith Dockery of Chapel Hill; his siblings, Katherine Byrd Comer and Ricky Byrd (Kathy); and his brother-in-law Ray Kanupp. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
