He was predeceased by: his parents, James Quincy and Bernice Luffman Gentry; his wife Cramer Norman Gentry; his brothers, James Gentry and Jonah Gentry; and his siblings-in-law, James Royal and Mary Florence Norman.
He is survived by: his children, David Lee Gentry of Elkin, Ellen G. Bullin (Terry) of Ararat, NC, Mary G. Hutchens (Tony) of Ararat, NC and Linda G. Hines (Christopher) of Elkin; his sister Becky Royal of State Road; his siblings-in-law, James Norman (Joan) of Dobson, Barbara Gentry of Elkin and Mamie Teague (Charlie) of Madison, NC; and his grandchildren, Hannah Jones (T. J.), Rachel Knox (Josh), Deborah Bullin, Joseph Bullin, Matthew Nelson (Brittany) and Jared Nelson (Maranda). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
