He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Royal and Florie Brooks Royal; his wife Nonnie Luffman Royal; and his sons, James Royal, J. C. Royal and Sammy Royal.
He is survived by: his children, Bobby Royal (Faye) of Elkin, Roby Royal (Shirley) of Thurmond, Richard Royal (Nancy), Rev. Danny Royal (Susie) and Lorette Darnell; and his daughters-in-law, Rebecca Royal of State Road and Pam Royal of Jonesville. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren.
