He is survived by: his wife Lorie Ann Shumate; his mother Louie York Shumate; his sons, Austin Shumate and Ethan Shumate; his stepchildren, Emma Garland and Bryce Garland; his siblings, Monette Swaim (Bill) of Hamptonville and Kenneth Shumate (Delores) of Elkin; and his nephews, Dallas Snow (Saige), Dan Snow, Mark Shumate and John Shumate (Carley).
