He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenny Steele and Alma Cockerham Steele; his son Alan R. Steele; and his siblings, Rickey Steele, Hugh Steele and Glenda Ann Steele.
He is survived by: his wife Texie C. Steele; his sons, David M. Steele, Jr. (Mary) of State Road, Mark Steele (Tammy) of Mountain Park and Jonathan Steele of State Road; and his brother Kent Steele (Peggy) of Jonesville. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
