He is survived by: his wife Patti Hampton Sowards of Dobson, NC; his children, Rebecca Luffman (Jackie) of State Road, NC, Monica Porter of Siloam, NC and David Wayne Sowards of Dobson, NC; his grandchildren, Brooke Martin of State Road, NC, Beau Martin (Hannah) of Elkin, NC, Abby Marion (John) of Dobson, NC, Sophia Porter, Ty and Khloe Sowards; his great grandchildren, Isla and Elaina Martin of Elkin, NC; his siblings, Tammy Addington (Gus) of Dobson, NC, Burley Sowards of Pilot Mountain, NC, Lenville Sowards (Lois) of Boonville, NC and Ricky Sowards (Melissa) of Pound, VA; and also, Rob Porter of North Wilkesboro, NC and Brooke Sowards of Dobson, NC. He is also survived by aunt, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and brothers and sisters.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the New Grace Baptist Church (11000 NC-268 Business, Elkin, NC 28621). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at the same location.
