She was predeceased by: her parents, Nina Poteat Cave and Gratis Cave; her husband Roy Bates Jr.; and her sisters, Louise Martin (Roby Dee), Hattie Whitaker (Landis), Oneda Tilley (Banner Tilley, Jr), Jackie Cooper and Catherine Whitaker.
She is survived by: her children, Jenny Bates Ardizzola (Rudy) and Reece Bates (Sandy); her grandsons, Stephen Ardizzola (Ashli), Paul Ardizzola and John Reece Bates (Sydney); her great grandchildren, Kenzie Ardizzola, Luca Ardizzola and Forrest Bates; and her sister-in-law Barbara Cooper.
