He was predeceased by: his wife Marie Sumlin; and his son Anthony Sumlin. He is survived by: his children, Joseph Sumlin of Lenoir, Hugh Sumlin (Alice) of Lenoir, James Sumlin of Elk Park, N. C., Melinda Sanders (Tony) of Lenoir and Amanda Greer (Mike) of Lenoir. He is also survived by one brother; one sister; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
