He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Thomas Nelson, Sr. and Mildred West Nelson; his sisters, Patricia Giles and Nina N. Carlson; his wife Claire Pippin Nelson; his son Thomas Beasley Nelson III (Stacey) of Raleigh; his siblings, Donald M. Nelson (Sylvia) of Lenoir and Mary Anne Ward (Ken) of Raleigh; and his granddaughters, Sydney Nelson and Ashley Nelson.
