He was predeceased by: his parents, Jurdie Velton Butler Sr. and Mildred Memory Butler; and his son Richard Wayne Butler. He is survived by: his wife Pauline Smith Butler; his children, Andy Butler (Deanna) of Bladenboro and Natalie Butler of Bladenboro; his siblings, Elizabethtown and Ruby McDuffie (Fletcher); his grandchildren, Justin Butler of Dublin and Tabitha Dowless of Lumberton; and his great grandchildren, Jason Dowless, Ryan Dowless and Alyssa Dowless.
