He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Herring and Mattie Lovette Herring; and his siblings, Ralph Herring, Howard Herring, JC Herring, Grace Clark and Mae Gray.
He is survived by: his wife Rose King Herring; his daughters, Shearon Skipper (Mike) of Lumberton, Julie Naughton (Matthew) of Matthews, NC, Kelly Edge (Alan) of White Oak and Jan Davis (Greg) of Matthews, NC; and his grandchildren, Michael Skipper, Joshua Skipper (Taylor), Kat Davis and Amber Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elizabethtown Baptist Church 1800 West Broad Street, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
