He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Martha Sauvinet; his parents, Albert Eugene Sauvinet Sr. and Mary Georgianna Rodrique; his siblings, Albert Eugene Sauvinet Jr. and Shirley Sauvinet; his grandson Paul Thomas Sauvinet; his children, Joseph Thomas Sauvinet Jr. (Gayle) of Wilmington and Cheryl Sauvinet Vieregge (Lee) of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Michele Surratt (Scott), Sonia Kennedy (Joe) and Traci McDowell (David); and his great grandchildren, Joseph, Noah, Mackenzie and Rachel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Briar Branch Cemetery Fund, or the American Cancer Society.
