He was predeceased by: his parents, Jonathan Idell Whitted and Beulah Mae Dunham-Johnson; his daughter Edith Darlene Whitted-King; his grandchildren, Alexis Charmaine Whitted and Bryant Thomas King; his sister Dorothea Johnson; his stepfather Joseph Johnson; and his grandparents, Bertie Whitted, Elizabeth Burns, Jessie James Dunham and Nellie Carver.
He is survived by: his children, Carl Edward Melvin (Twana), Norman Antonio Whitted, Anthony Fitzgerald Whitted (Irish), Tonya Danielle Whitted-Hammonds (John) and Sharon Morrisey; his siblings, Ambrose Johnson, Richard Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Wendall Haire, Jonathan Haire, Mae D. Melvin, Juanita Philyaw, Joyce Williams (David), Nancy Johnson, Shelia Mack, Tracy Scott (Winston), Lottie Carr (George), Jackie Douglas, Mary Whitted and Irish Haire; and his granddaughter Gabrielle S. Whitted. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and lifetime friends.
