The passing of Betty Jean Trott Kornegay of Elizabethtown, North Carolina, born in Richlands, North Carolina leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on December 18, 2024 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by: her parents, Marvin A. Trott, Sr. and Jean Collins Trott; and her brother Marvin A. Trott, Jr.. She is survived by: her husband Kenneth; her sons, Greg Kornegay (Marlene) of Leland and Jeff Kornegay (Susan) of Elizabethtown; her grandchildren, Dustin Kornegay (Beth) of Garner, Lauren Kornegay Atwell (Rob) of Clayton, Alaina Kornegay Driggs (Alex) of Leland, Noah Kornegay of Leland and Savannah Scoggins Perrotta (Anthony) of Leland; her great grandchildren, Luka, Eden Atwell, Bennett and Emma Kornegay; and her nieces, Debra Trott Clark of Jacksonville and Lori Trott Aragona of Jacksonville. She is also survived by her children and grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church (1800 W Broad St, Elizabethtown, NC 28337). A celebration of life was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 3:45 PM at the Elizabethtown Cemetery.
In honor of Betty's commitment to Christian education, in lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Elizabethtown Christian Academy, 1800 W. Broad Street Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
