He was predeceased by: his wife Sadie Mae Jernigan; his parents, William Jernigan and Stella Jernigan; and his siblings, Cynthia Adams, Mamie Jernigan, Jim, Billy and Roy.
He is survived by: his daughters, Tabatha Hall (Craig) of Winterville and Lisa J. O'Quinn of Elizabeth City; his grandchildren, Ryan Hall, Kayla Hall and Kari O'Quinn; his great grandchildren, Lacey Mills and Arabella Mills; and his siblings, Tommy Jernigan of Elizabeth City, Don Jernigan, Robert Gerald Jernigan, Phyllis Shirley, Faye Jeffcoat and Peggy Harris.
