He was predeceased by: his parents, John Aubrey Seymour, Sr. and Elizabeth Frances Cherry Seymour; and his brother Col. John Aubrey Seymour, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Delores Clark Seymour; his children, Ricky Seymour of Hertford, NC and Darlene S. Chesson (Robert) of Hertford, NC; and his stepchildren, William Leon Hare II (Rita) of Elizabeth City, NC and Donna Kaye Drew (Michael) of Goldsboro, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Twiford Memorial Chapel (405 E Church St, Elizabeth City, NC 27909). A reception was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Twiford Funeral Home (Elizabeth City) Memorial Chapel (405 E Church St, Elizabeth City, NC 27909).
Richard will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to the values he held dear and for his contributions to the many communities he touched throughout his life.
