She was predeceased by: her mother Mary Jane Cox; her husband Johnnie Eugene Johnson; her son Johnnie Johnson, Jr.; her sister Peggy Gordon; and her grandson C. W. Betts, III.
She is survived by: her children, Barbara Johnson (Wade Betts) of Elizabeth City, Janet Johnson of Elizabeth City, Daryl Johnson (Becky) of Elizabeth City, Walter Johnson (Diana) of Church Hill, TN and David Johnson (Frances) of Elizabeth City. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, March 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the New Hollywood Cemetery (1101 Peartree Rd, Elizabeth City, NC 27909).
