She was predeceased by: her father Luther Ray Phillips, Jr.; and her sister Stevie Jack. She is survived by: her mother Mary Katherine Reid Jones of Elizabeth City; her children, Michelle M. Allen (Matthew), Harley A. Brickhouse (Shelton) and Kyle R. Carter of Hertford; and her sisters, Amy Brewer of Elizabeth City and Amber Kincaid of Elizabeth City. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In Katherine's death, her family is honored that through anatomical donation she helped save the lives of at least two other people.
