It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jesse Leroy Johnson (Elizabeth City, North Carolina), who passed away on February 21, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Latham and Nellie Ralph Johnson; his daughter Susan Lynn Johnson; and his brother William Walter Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Vickie Anne Evans Johnson; his children, Lisa Charlene Johnson Sawyer (Keith) of Camden, David B. Johnson of Chester, VA and Terence L. Johnson of Colorado; and his grandchildren, Danielle Nicole Johnson, Victoria Sue Sawyer Cardea (Trever), Caroline Belle Sawyer, Jesse Stanley Sawyer, Jacob Adam Cartwright (Amber) and Justin Evan Cartwright. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church (700 N Road St, Elizabeth City, NC 27909).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Music Ministry at Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church, 700 N. Road Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
