He was predeceased by: his parents, Shaffer S. Colson and Gertrude Wilson Colson; his brother Preston Colson; and his grandson Austin. He is survived by: his wife Betty Tadlock; his children, Cindy Skittlethorpe (William) of Shallotte, NC, Wendy Colson of Tyner, NC, Christy Overman (Anthony) of Hertford, NC, Beth Colson of Camden, NC, Michael Colson (Brenda) of Elizabeth City, NC and Ryan Boyce (Leeann) of Hobbsville, NC.; his brother Darryl Colson of Holiday Island, NC; and his grandchildren, Brandon, Tricia, Brittney, Dylon, Andrea, Justin, Grayson, Madison and Walker. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Twiford Funeral Homes (405 E Church St, Elizabeth City, NC 27907). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location.
