In the vast expanse of eternity, Donald Ray shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Donald Ray farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Lewis Franklin and Ada Bryant Franklin; his sister Deborah Evans; and his son Daniel Franklin. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Maffeo Franklin; his children, Echele Franklin of Elizabeth City, NC and Mark Franklin (Jamie) of Camden, NC; and his brother Ronald Franklin (Patricia) of Elizabeth City, NC. He is also survived by six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, March 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Twiford Funeral Homes (405 E Church St, Elizabeth City, NC 27907). A funeral service was held on Sunday, March 16th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Montero's Restaurant (414 McArthur Dr, Elizabeth City, NC 27909).
