He was predeceased by: his father H. R. Hardy. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Kay Pendergrast; his children, Amber Nicole Conwell (Donovan), Amanda Rose Morris (Trey) and Hal Richard Hardy Jr.; his grandchildren, Savanah Jones, Abbey Jones, Avary Morris, Levi Morris, Evan Hardy and Aidan Espada; his sister Debbie Martz (Tony); and his aunts, Maryann Jamison and Starr Oliver (Mike). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
