He was predeceased by: his parents, James Russell Cayton, Sr. and Geraldine Equils Cayton; and his sister Vickie White. He is survived by: his wife Monica V. Cayton; his sons, James William Cayton of New Bern, Dustin Gray Cayton of Washington and Kevin Matthew Cayton (Wendy) of Aurora; his grandchildren, Christopher Cayton, Micheal Cayton, Jayden Cayton, Madison Cayton and Leah Cayton; and his siblings, Stephen A. Gore of Virginia, Sue Walker of Virginia and Rosie Cayton of Edward.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Edward Christian Church (23 Academy St, Edward, NC 27821). A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
