He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Woodrow and Marguerite Barden Attkisson; his daughter Sallie Ann Attkisson; and his brother Ronald Lee Attkisson. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ballard Attkisson; his son Kenneth Bryant Attkisson (Jennifer) of Edenton; his grandchildren, Batchelor Page Attkisson, Annslie Brooks Attkisson, Ruffin Hedrick Attkisson and Wayne; his siblings, Marguerite Ann "Maggie" Braddy (Jeff) of Wilmington and Jerry Barden Attkisson (Sylvia) of Atlanta; his friends, Wayne, Margaret, Sallie Ann and Ken; his son Ken; his child-in-law Jenn; and his grandchild Batch. He is also survived by friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Wayne's memory to Glory Ridge Youth Missions through St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
