She was predeceased by: her parents, Merrill Thomas, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Chappell Lane; her husband Wilford Powell Goodwin, Sr.; her siblings, Seva Lane and Merrill Lane, Jr.; and her daughter-in-law Michelle Goodwin.
She is survived by: her children, Susan Elaine Goodwin of Edenton, Minnie Frances Goodwin Chappell (Brian) of Tyner, Wilford Powell "J. R." Goodwin, Jr. of Edenton and Charles Allen Goodwin (Susan) of Edenton; and her grandchildren, Wesley Brandon, Brandy Michelle Goodwin and Gideon Thomas Chappell. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
