She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest James and Ruth Wilder Dail; her husband Randolph Dempsey; and her siblings, Dixie Lee, Denise Dail Mabine, Velma Jones, George Simpson and Gene Dail.

She is survived by: her sisters, Ernestine Hall of Edenton, Ethel Paskel of Hayward, CA and Brenda Ferebee of Lindale, TX; and her stepson Ronald Mitchell of Edenton. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
