He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Saunders Spivey and Oscar Copeland "Ossie" Spivey; and his wife Mae Boyce Spivey. He is survived by: his children, Desiree Spivey Blanchard (Rube) of Hobbsville and Roger Kelly Spivey (Jennifer) of Washington, NC; his sister Loretta Spivey Wiggins (Joseph) of Midlothian, VA.; his grandchildren, Melinda Erin Forward (Jason), Aaron Hunter Blanchard (Vanessa), Jacob Thomas, Graham Dixon and Layton Paul Spivey; and his great grandchildren, Caroline Mae and Bryson Kelly Forward. He is also survived by his children, and all his family.
His wishes were that flowers be omitted, and contributions in his memory be made to the Chowan Development Council, P.O. Box 629, Edenton, NC 27932 for its use in the continued support of the patient Comfort Care Unit of ECU Health Chowan Hospital, or to Warwick Baptist Church, 4314 Virginia Road, Hobbsville, NC 27946 for its use in the Vacation Bible School program, or to one's favorite charity.
