She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Earl Lane, Jr. and Virginia Owens Lane; and her brother Mike Lane. She is survived by: her husband James Howard Phelps; her sister-in-law Debbie Ringgold (Alan) of New Bern; her aunt Ruth Lane of Edenton; and her niece Kathy Clark of Roper.
