She was predeceased by: her parents, James Richard and Annie Bivens Briggs; her husbands, Joseph L. Forehand and Melvin Chappell; her son Joseph Richard "Ricky" Forehand; her siblings, Annie Marie Goodwin and Frank Briggs; and her great grandchild Tiffany Helton.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Joseph Gregory Forehand of Richmond, VA and Brenda Jo Helton (Tim) of Merry Hill; her great grandchildren, Gage Forehand and Christopher Helton; her daughter-in-law Geraldine Forehand of Windsor; her nieces, Janet Respass (Jim) of Edenton, Anita Barnes (Bill) of Edenton and Jean Copeland (Mark) of Askewville; and her close friend Mike Mills (Teresa). She is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members and friends.
