He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Wesley and Bertha Lee Alvis Shutt; and his son-in-law Sandy Strickland. He is survived by: his wife Carol Smith Shutt; and his daughters, Wanda Strickland of Edenton, Mary Sawyer (David) of Edenton and Dianne McDonald (Billy) of Newport News, VA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
