She was predeceased by: her parents, William Blount Shepard, Sr. and Bessie Hoskins Shepard; her husband Jasper Wiggins Hassell; her brothers, William Blount Shepard, Jr. (late Jenny) and Thomas Hoskins Shepard (late Becky); and her grandson Tyler Bowe Harris, Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Marion Bowden Hassell Harris (Tyler) of New Bern and William Edgar Hassell of Edenton; her grandson James Shepard Harris (Lauren); and her great grandchildren, Austin and Ellie Grace of Wilmington. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
