Herman left this world on April 2, 2025 at the age of 82, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Zander Scales and Garnett Roberts Scales; his grandfather Victor Roberts; his sister D. Maxine Scales Hurtt; and his stepbrother Paulio Roberts.
He is survived by: his wife Mary C. Scales; and his sisters, Susan Helena Scales of Eden and Eunice Scales Reaves of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Viewing was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Robinson Memorial United Holy Church (521 Turner St, Eden, NC 27288). A burial was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at the Ridgeview Cemetery (1658 NC-135, Eden, NC 27288).
