He was predeceased by: his wife Rebecca Ann Overby Cook; his parents, Walter Nelson Cook and Daisy Gilbert Cook; and his siblings, Henderson Cook, Sylvester Cook, Olivia Ahren and Loretta Washburn.
He is survived by: his daughters, Renee Williams (Bobby) of Yadkinville, NC and Denise Dalton of Hope Mills, NC.; and his half-brother Donnie Cook of Eden. He is also survived by father and was blessed with five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his substantial contributions to education, Elon proudly served in the United States Air Force, demonstrating a commitment to his country.
