He is survived by: his children, Royal E. Southerland Jr., Matthew Sean Southerland (Tina) and LeaAnne Claggett (Ben); his stepchildren, John Kiestler (Cassie) and Tammy Eldridge; his grandchildren, Royal Southerland III, Kristen Gilmore (Justin), Andrew Claggett, Dylan Claggett, Amanda Southerland, Macie Hoidn (Joshua), Mannie Welsh, Megan Southerland, Casandra Southerland, Brittany O'Steen, Scott O'Steen Jr., Elizabeth Gordner and Carly Shipman; his stepgrandchildren, Amanda Sellars, Ashley White and Megan Kiestler; his grandchildren, Cora, Kayla, Jasper and Elijah Eldridge; his great grandchildren, Temperance, Aurora Vaivai, Skylee, Ashtin Blevins, Octavia O'Steen, Colt Shipman and Lainey Gordner; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Journee Hickle, Toryn White and Liam Walker; his siblings, Retha S. Gervin, Raymond Southerland (Dean) and Robert Southerland (Wanda); and his close friend Jerry Corn.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Mount Olivet Baptist Church (3582 Mt Olivet Rd, Zirconia, NC 28790). A funeral service was held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
