Helen Whitley Fortune Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Whitley Fortune of East Bend, North Carolina, born in Clayton, North Carolina, who passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Charles W. Fortune; her parents, W. I. Whitley and Nina Duncan Whitley; and her siblings, Gus, Judson, Duke, Carl Whitley, Elizabeth Conner, Angela Brown, Margaret Rasor and Yvanne Whitley.

She is survived by: her children, Charles W. Fortune, Jr. of Garner, David Fortune (Neena) of Raleigh and Elizabeth Gillie of Topping, VA.; her grandchildren, Carly Redding (Dan), Lindsay Felker (Charlie), Nicholas Fortune (Ciara), Rebecca Gillie and Caitlin Gillie; her great grandchildren, Elliot Felker, Charlotte Felker, Callahan Fortune, Darby Fortune, Mack Fortune and Mae Redding; her stepgreat-grandson Dylan Redding; and her sister-in-law Doris Fortune. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
