She was predeceased by: her parents, Charley G. Joyner and Cornelia Potts Joyner; her husband Bernard "Bernie" Matthews; and her siblings, Tom, Weldon, Wiley "Hank", Stanley Joyner, Virginia "Ginny" Norman and Addie Mae Poindexter.
She is survived by: her son Jerry L. Matthews (Cynthia Darnell) of East Bend; her grandson Jeffrey Matthews (Amy); her great grandchild Katlyn Pearson (Colton) of Wilkesboro, NC; and her great great grandchild Starlyn Pearson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
