Olivia Shirley Ann Gilmore Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Olivia Shirley Ann Gilmore (Durham, North Carolina), who passed away on January 7, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Olivia Shirley Ann farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Olivia Shirley Ann is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She is survived by: her children, Exter G. "Trey" Gilmore, III and Onjerya "Kem" Gilmore; and her granddaughter Patsy Merritt Pilgrim. She is also survived by five grandchildren and five bonus grandchildren; one great grandchildren and two bonus great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of life was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM and at 1:30 PM at the Union Baptist Church (904 N Roxboro St, Durham, NC 27701).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the North Carolina Central University Marching Band in the name of Olivia G. Gilmore.
