She was predeceased by: her parents, W. E. Byrd and Myrtle Leigh Byrd; her siblings, W. E. Byrd, Jr. and Marian Byrd Wyshosky; and her nephew Gregg Wyshosky.
She is survived by: her children, Owen A Waddell, Jr. (Teri Danner) of Durham, Kathy W. Jones (late Jerry) of Durham and Jean Underwood (Steve) of Raleigh; her grandsons, Matthew and Jarrod (Marissa); her great grandchildren, Forrest and Mavrick; her grandsons, Brennan, Evan and Alexander of Durham; and also Bill Waddell (Teresa Roberts).
