He is survived by: his wife Karen Schmelzer of Apex, NC; his children, Christina Carinci (Bill) and Adam Schmelzer (Caroline) of Apex, NC; his grandchildren, Lily, Ava Carinci, Camden and Catie Ann Schmelzer; and his brother Jim Schmelzer of Rock Hill, SC..
