We are sad to announce that on December 3, 2023, at the age of 73, JoAnn Bivins Smith (Durham, North Carolina), born in Charleston, South Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Garland Bivins and Esther Louise Smith Bivins; her husband Marcus Stephen Smith; and her sister Joyce Holmes. She is survived by: her daughters, Erin Bryanne Smith Spain (Tate) and Ashlyn Brittany Smith (Scott Sullivan); her grandchildren, Ryder Brown Spain and Carter Grady Spain; and her siblings, Albert Garland Bivins Jr., Wayne Barnes and Faye Childs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Duke Children's Hospital (Pediatric Cardiology) online at http://www.gifts.duke.edu family is being assisted by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Durham.
