He was predeceased by: his father Walter Barker Keighton Jr.; and his siblings, Charlie, Leslie and Bob. He is survived by: his wife Alice Swetland; his children, Steve (Debbie) of Blacksburg, VA and Barbara (Joe) of Durham, NC; his grandchildren, Halle, Lucas and Renee; and his sister June K Furlow (Jerry) of Everett, PA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
