She was predeceased by: her parents, Burley Floyd Owens and Leone Prevatt Owens; her son James Ray Smith; and her siblings, Floyd Owens and Betty Jo Wilkins.
She is survived by: her husband Billy Ray Smith; her children, Jerry Smith (Maria) of Durham and Carolyn Smith (Paul Scott); her granddaughter Jennifer Smith; her great grandchild Baleigh Rimele; her sister Bobbie J. Rivera; and her close friend Lillie. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and pet.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22nd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Old Fashion Tabernacle Baptist Church (1124 Wrenn Rd, Durham, NC 27703). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 22nd 2024 at 1:45 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Oak Grove Memorial Gardens (3712 Cheek Rd, Durham, NC 27704).
