She was predeceased by: her parents, Ellis Overby and Mary Overby; and her brothers, Fenten Overby, Frank Overby, Cecil Overby, Clyde Overby and Ellis Overby, Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Danny Hicks (Mitzi), David Hicks and Linda Oakley; her grandchildren, Brad Hicks (Carli), Shannon Taylor (Chanita), Nicole Swartz (Lucas) and Chris Oakley (Trish); her great grandchildren, Dayton Hicks (Julia), Levi Hicks, Bailey Kitchen, Addie Kitchen, Vitoria Taylor, Carter Taylor, Sophie Swartz and Jayden Swartz; and her close friends, Rose Hagan and Paulette Bullock. She is also survived by other loving family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Hudson Funeral Home (211 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A committal service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the North Fork Baptist Cemetery (5124 N Fork Church Rd, Virgilina, VA 24598).
