He was predeceased by: his parents, Elonnie Alston and Hattie Alston; and his brothers, Nathaniel Alston, Robert Alston Sr. and William Alston.
He is survived by: his daughter Leshonda "Pie" Johnson of Durham, NC; and his siblings, Clora Branch (Johnnie) of Louisburg, NC, Elonie Alston Jr. (Rosalyn) of Chapel Hill, NC, Ervin Alston of Durham, NC, Jurother Alston (Lynette) of Carrboro, NC and Larry Alston (Jenny) of Chapel Hill, NC.. He is also survived by four grandsons, two granddaughters, and one great-grandson.
