He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron L Nice and Blanche Talbot Nice; his wife Nettie Rebekah Zook; his siblings, Louise Vrolijk (Dirk) and Frank Nice (Evelyn); and his siblings-in-law, Sandy Zook, Sarah Ann Newcomer and Bill Yoder.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Hessnice (Sally) of Graham, Dr. Keith Nice (Tami) of Graham, Kevin Nice (Marcia) of Durham and Carol Detweiler (Glenn) of Durham; his siblings-in-law, Leo Zook (Mim) of Oregon, Erma Yoder of Goshen, IN and Mary Lou Vrolijk of Harrisonburg, VA.; and his grandchildren, Dr. Byron Detweiler of Oklahoma City, OK, Rachel Lopez (Emilio) of Oklahoma City, OK, Joanna Nice of Raleigh, Jonathan Nice of Chapel Hill, Luke Hessnice of Kissimmee, FL, Leah Hessnice of Graham, Jacob Nice of Burlington and Andrew Nice of Graham.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 19th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hudson Funeral Home and Cremation Services (211 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703). A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 20th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Durham Mennonite Church (603 Lynn Rd, Durham, NC 27703).
